A Beautiful Symphony

Having the time to sit in stillness and enjoy the sounds of nature. It was a beautiful symphony.

I spent Saturday outside of Jamestown for the first day of the Earth Magic Academy Women’s Program with Vanessa Tavernetti. This is my second year in a row. This program is the greatest gift I give myself.

One of the activities we participated in was to find a tree to sit with for a while. The tree I chose was facing the pond in Vanessa’s neighborhood.

At first, my brain wanted to process and sort through the thoughts and ideas circling around. Then, I got a clear message to stop, turn off my brain and just listen to the sounds of nature around me. It was a beautiful symphony of dogs barking from different houses around the pond. One dog would bark and another would respond. Then a different dog would bark and another would respond. Back and forth. I imagined they were sharing their hopes and dreams with each other. There were different birds calling in between and around the dogs and then the wind was swirling through the trees holding space for all of the other sounds. Occasionally, everything would stop and it felt like time was standing still.

I loved having the time to sit in stillness and enjoy the sounds of nature. It was a beautiful symphony. I look forward to attending another symphony.
